Destination Duluth’s formation and growth since 2013 has depended upon a dedicated core of inspired volunteers, talented board members, over 200 high caliber photographers who graciously donate their images for a credit, and a handful of area businesses who have recognized the importance of our mission, vision and values. City of Duluth and former Mayor Don Ness were early champions, supporting our on-going media development, Outside Magazine Contest and Celebrate Winter initiative. Other key support early on came from Maurices, Essentia, Minnesota Power and Enbridge as major employers who saw the value in how the messaging we were creating supported their employee recruitment efforts and community development plans.
Key supporters from the business sector were PureDriven, South Pier Inn, Gilbert Law, Ski Hut, Spirit Mountain, Otis Magie and Art in The Alley, all who made commitments to partake in our foundational sustaining partner campaign. In 2016-2017 The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation supported the development of an intern program for Labovitz School for Entrepreneurship students that engaged them in opportunities to help us grow our reach to area young people while strengthening our message that Duluth is a “Destination For Life”. All of these community partners and investments have been managed frugally to grow our organization to its present status. This web site, co-funded by City of Duluth and Essentia, showcases our funding partners, creative collaborations and new initiatives that will be part of transforming our community and its future. We continue to grow our base of support, and believe we are destined to become the primary organization leading the transformational growth of our City and area. Come join us.
